UAAP Juniors basketball beams on ABS-CBN S+A

Filipino hoop fans can now watch rising stars like Kai Sotto, Mark Nonoy, Joem Sabandal and RJ Abarrientos strut their stuff in the Juniors division.

Filipinos can now watch the bright young stars competing in the UAAP Juniors basketball and gaze into the future of Philippine hoops as ABS-CBN S+A and sports.abs-cbn.com carry the second round games of the UAAP Season 81 Juniors Basketball tournament starting Sunday (January 13).

Firing off for this great New Year’s gift from ABS-CBN Sports is De La Salle Zobel (DLSZ) Junior Archers, led by Henrie Subido, facing off against University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons, which has Jordi Gomez De Liano, airing on S+A at 5 pm.

It will be followed by the potential Final Four match-up between the Nazareth School-National University (NSNU) Bullpups of Carl Tamayo and Gerry Abadiano and the defending champions Ateneo De Manila High School (ADMU) Blue Eaglets led by the towering Kai Sotto at 7 pm.

Other young basketball stars to watch for are University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tiger Cubs lead man Mark Nonoy, Far Eastern University’s (FEU) RJ Abarrientos, University of the East’s (UE) Shane Dichoso, and Adamson University’s (AdU) Joem Sabandal.

The second round of the UAAP Juniors basketball tournament will be played in the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City starting at 9 am. Viewers can watch the morning games via livestreaming at sports.abs-cbn.com, the ABS-CBN Sports Youtube channel, and iWant, with the afternoon games airing on S+A, S+A HD, LIGA, and LIGA HD.

In previous seasons, S+A would only air the Finals series of UAAP Juniors, but will now expand its coverage to give the next generation of Filipino basketball heroes their much-deserved time in the limelight.

“We have lots of great players at the high school level and we would love for Filipinos to meet them as early as now. This is a way for us to show their journey to the collegiate level and hopefully we get to inspire more of the youth today to take up the sport, be good at it, and strive for greatness,” ABS-CBN Integrated Sports head Dino Laurena said.

Juniors basketball action continues on January 16 as S+A beams the showdown between UST and NSNU LIVE at 1 pm followed by the match-up of ADMU and UE at 3 pm. On January 20, it is AdU’s turn to showcase their skills LIVE against NSNU at 1 pm followed by the clash of ADMU and FEU at 3 pm. Meanwhile, January 23 is the Battle of Katipunan as ADMU and UPIS meet at 1 pm while DLSZ faces league-leading NSNU at 3 pm.
