“1MX Singapore 2019” brings the best OPM experience in Asia

OPM artists KZ Tandingan, Darren Espanto, Bugoy Drilon, Ben & Ben, and Jayda Avanzado brought the house down in the first “One Music X” music festival in Asia

After conquering Dubai and Abu Dhabi, ABS-CBN’s international Filipino music festival “One Music X” made waves in its first destination in Asia—Singapore—after the staging of “One Music X Singapore 2019” or popularly known as “1MX Singapore 2019” last May 27 at the Scape, Playspace, in Orchard Link, Singapore.

The first-ever Filipino music festival held in Singapore ended on a high note, as described by the Singapore-based music portal, Bandwagon. (Screenshot from bandwagon.asia)

Singapore-based music portal Bandwagon described "1MX Singapore 2019" as "an evening to remember" and significantly noted how the lineup of performers "flew the flag of the Philippines high and proud as they represented their home country on a foreign stage."

The Music Hub of Asia witnessed lit performances from some of the biggest names of OPM today: KZ Tandingan, Darren Espanto, Bugoy Drilon, and Ben&Ben, with a special performance from Jayda Avanzado.

Jayda Avanzado may be the daughter of popular OPM artists, Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado, but she is making a name for herself with her outstanding talent

The up-and-coming star Jayda Avanzado was a revelation to everyone when she showcased her talent in singing, dancing, and playing the instruments like the guitar and the keyboard. She also captured the hearts of the audience when she performed her original single, “Happy for You”.

Instagram user @sbianca07 shared her admiration of Jayda, who she said is more than just a pretty face. Sharing with her followers some photos during Jayda’s performances she said, “such a talented pretty [sweet] girl”.

Ben &Ben’s group started with brothers Miguel Guico and Paolo Guico until it grew into a big group of friends whose common passion is music

The nine-man folk-pop band Ben & Ben set the mood right, especially for the couples present in the music festival, when they performed some of their well-loved hits like “Leaves”, “Bibingka,” and “Maybe the Night”.

Instagram user @iamdamboo cannot contain her happiness watching with her husband the performances of her favorite band, Ben & Ben. On her post, she said, “OPM at its finest. World class performers. Fan mode on Ben & Ben #1mxsingapore2019 #pinoypride”

From a talent show finalist to now one of the most-admired OPM artists, Bugoy Drilon has long proven that with passion and dedication nothing is impossible

Proving that he is one of the versatile singers of his generation, Bugoy Drilon had everyone singing along with him while performing different genres of songs, from pop-RnB to reggae, down to ballad.

Facebook user Angel Kho who commented on TFC Singapore’s post about Bugoy Drilon even said: “Salute to you ang galing mo yesterday lalo ung bruno mars upbeat songs mo”.

Starting young in the music industry, Darren Espanto continuously reinvents himself and takes his talent a notch higher, gaining the title as Philippines’ Total Performer

The Philippines’ Total Performer Darren Espanto celebrated his 18th birthday with his fans when he performed for them at the “One Music X” stage. In return, the crowd sang in unison the “Happy Birthday” song that left Darren speechless.

Still on high with Darren’s performance at the “One Music X Singapore 2019” music fest, Facebook user Haidee Ade Bucad commented on TFC Singapore’s post about Darren: “Grabe galing mo. We enjoy much yesterday night!!!!”

After giving everyone a peek of how well their voices blended, Jayda Avanzado and Darren Espanto did a full performance of the song “Rewrite the Stars” from the Hollywood film “The Greatest Showman”

Another highlight that night is the duet of Darren Espanto and Jayda Avanzado in the tune of “Rewrite the Stars” from the movie “The Greatest Showman”.

Considered as the face of “One Music X”, KZ Tandingan has been part of the international Filipino music festival since it was launched in Dubai, to its next stop in Abu Dhabi, and recently in Singapore which is its first staging in Asia

Capping the night is Philippines’ Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan who set the stage on fire with her performance of her original hits like “Labo”, a medley of Eraserheads hits, down to her own rendition of the song “Rolling in the Deep” which she first performed in the talent show “Singer 2018”.

Instagram user @renagpasia was in awe after witnessing KZ perform live and said on her post: “KZ you never fail to amaze me. So surreal to see you upclose perform live”.

In the end, everyone who was present that night gushed over their “best” “One Music X Singapore 2019” experience, just like what Facebook users Hervey Laranja and Shainna Jhane II shared on the TFC Singapore page.

Aside from bringing forth to the world the world-class talent of the Filipino music artists, “1MX Singapore 2019” also serves as celebration of ABS-CBN’s milestone as it celebrates its 65th anniversary, which coincides with TFC’s 25th anniversary.

It was also named by the Philippine Embassy in Singapore as the official celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Philippine-Singapore Bilateral Relations.
