ABS-CBN, named Best TV Station in 27th KBP Golden Dove Awards

ABS-CBN struck gold in the 27th Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) Golden Dove Awards, where it hauled in 25 trophies, including Best TV Station.
 
The Kapamilya network’s noontime program “It’s Showtime” was named Best TV Variety Program, while weekend show “Home Sweetie Home: Walang Kapares” won Best TV Comedy Program, and daytime series “Sana Dalawa ang Puso” was recognized as the Best TV Drama Program.
 
Angelica Panganiban led the Kapamilya TV personalities who took home individual citations as she bagged the Best TV Actress for Comedy for her weekly gag show “Banana Sundae” while renowned funnyman Bayani Agbayani took home Best TV Actor for Comedy for his role in “Funny Ka, Pare Ko.” Meanwhile, their fellow stars also got the nods of the judges for their performances like Bela Padilla, who wone Best TV Actress for Drama for her portrayal in “Maalaala Mo Kaya: Anting-anting” and Nash Aguas, who was hailed as Best TV Actor for Drama for “Maalaala Mo Kaya: Drawing.”
 
KBP also gave citations to Boy Abunda as Best TV Magazine Program Host and his show, “The Bottomline with Boy Abunda,” as Best TV Magazine Program. Kiddie program “Team YeY” won as the Best TV Children’s Program.
 
For ABS-CBN News, the Best TV Public Service Host award went to Karen Davila, who anchors “My Puhunan.” Weekend morning program “Salamat Dok” also won Best TV Public Service Program while “Tapatan ni Tunying” received the Best TV Public Affairs Program award. “Red Alert” also went for a double as Best TV Documentary Program for “Red Alert: HIV” and Best TV PSA for “Red Alert: Bagyo Ligtas Tips,” while Best TV Sports Program went to “Sports U Ikaw ang Panalo.”
 
DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, ABS-CBN’s flagship AM radio station, was not one to lag behind as it also brought home trophies. Best Radio Variety Program went to “Todo-Todo Walang Preno,” “Sakto!” won Best Radio Magazine Program, and “Fastbreak” took home Best Radio Sports Program. Veteran anchor Vic Lima was also a big winner for the night, taking home Best Radio Newscaster, while Radyo Patrol Reporter Zhander Cayabyab was recognized as Best Radio Field Reporter. TV and radio personality Cory Quirino also bagged the Best Radio Magazine Program Host while Bro. Jun Banaag O.P., also known as Dr. Love, was cited as Best Variety Program Host.
 
ABS-CBN Regional also made its mark with “TV Patrol Negros Channel 4” of ABS-CBN Bacolod bagging the Best TV Newscast Provincial award.
 
The KBP is the premier broadcast media organization in the country composed of owners and operators of radio and TV stations. It aims to elevate professional and ethical standards in Philippine broadcasting, and promote social responsibility in broadcasting. The Golden Dove Awards is KBP’s way of recognizing excellence in broadcasting in the land.
