1MX Spotlight: KZ Tandingan Signals 'Soul Supremacy II' with New Single 'Dito Ka Lang'

During a particularly strong rainy night, <a href="~/">KZ Tandingan</a> jumpstarted a live set for the launch of her latest single <a href="~/">&quot;Dito Ka Lang&quot;</a> with a performance of her hit song <a href="~/">&quot;Labo&quot;</a> from her 2017 album <a href="~/">Soul Supremacy</a>. Towards the end of the song, a power interruption killed the electricity and reduced everything to pitch black. But KZ and the band did not drop the performance, with her and her doing some vocal scats with her drummer and horn player forging on until the power came back and the full backline got recovered. &quot;After years of playing with my amazing band, we have developed this chemistry na we know what to do with things like these and understand that the show must go on,&quot; <a href="~/">KZ</a> would say in the conference when asked about it afterwards.That is a testament to the talent, grit and soul that KZ and co. have delivered with their music throughout the years. She wrote and dedicated the song to her husband, singer <a href="~/">TJ Monterde</a>, when the latter was on tour abroad while KZ stayed in the country.“I rarely write happy love songs as KZ because feeling ko dati mawawala yung pagka-astig ko,” she explained. “Itong song na ito is the first baby of KZ as an artist embracing what she really feels at the moment.”<a href="~/">“Dito Ka Lang”</a> is also about the overflowing love she has unexpectedly received. She said, “It’s about getting the love you think you don’t deserve. Parang feeling mo ‘ano bang ginawa ko to deserve this kind of love?’ And I hope for everybody to experience it.”A mix of soul, R&amp;B, and rap music, the song was sent to the United States and was mixed by Grammy winner Jackie Boom and mastered by another Grammy winner Jett Galindo of The Bakery LA. Theo Martel handled the arrangement of the song that was produced by certfieid songwriter-producer and hitmaker <a href="~/">Jonathan Manalo</a>.Its music video, to be uploaded on ABS-CBN Star Music YouTube channel, stars <a href="~/">Kobie Brown</a> and <a href="~/">Andi Abaya</a>.“Dito Ka Lang,” which consistently trended online after it was announced, will be the first track featured in KZ’s upcoming full-length album called Soul Supremacy II.
