Roderick Garcia, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div>CORK, Ireland - A Filipino couple here has been spreading kindness to kababayans in need of company or a temporary place for the night.Masbate native Nicholas Escape, fondly called Kuya Nick, arrived in Cork County in 2003 to work as a health care assistant. His wife Sapia, originally from Tawi-Tawi, was also hired as a general nurse.Both of them came from big families: Nick with five siblings, while Sapia, three.With no other extended family in Ireland, the couple always missed their big and happy families back home.To combat longing for their families back in the Philippines, the couple opened up their home to other Filipinos in the area, embracing them as their own.They started by hosting big get-together events several times a year, which eventually became a tradition. Filipinos can just literally turn up at their doorstep for free meals.Kuya Nick also offers Filipinos temporary shelter and transportation even in the wee hours of the night.Many just also seek his wise advice on various topics.Kuya Nick said no amount of money could beat the feeling of satisfaction that he gets when helping Filipinos. The sound of laughter and closeness during get together events also remind him of his childhood days back home.Sapia meanwhile believes that God is blessing them with good health and fortune as they continue to lend a helping hand to others.
