Filipinos intending to travel to Brunei Darussalam are encouraged to suspend their trip after the Southeast Asian nation imposed a ban on foreigners to curb the spread of COVID-19, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Thursday.

The travel ban took effect on March 24 and will be implemented at all entry points of Brunei until further notice, the DFA said in a statement.

"Travelers intending to travel to Brunei or workers intending to return to Brunei are strongly encouraged to suspend and forego their travel in the meantime, and advised to contact their airline company to avoid any unnecessary inconveniences," the DFA said.

The DFA reminded the public to remain informed on countries that have imposed travel restrictions that may affect Filipino travelers.
