ROCKVILLE, Maryland – A 5-year-old Filipino-American boy was recently featured in local Maryland news for his photographic memory.

Joaquin Francis Ancheta gets really excited to play when friends come visit their Rockland home.
But unlike most 5-year-olds, Ancheta spends most of his time studying maps, presidents and naming every single one of his beanie boos.

His father said the kindergarten Fil-Am has a photographic memory. He can name all 16 Philippine presidents.
He knows all 45 presidents of the United States too.

“One thing that got us into it, was like, he was practically gazing at the map, when he was one-year-old. So it’s like he’s watching a movie and then he would be very interested in the places that we go to,” said his father Dennis Ancheta.

Ancheta’s parents were both accountants at the Sycip-Gorres and Velayo firm in Makati, Philippines before getting married and settling in the US in 2010.

“When he was 2 ½, we noticed na he could spell simple words like cat, kasi he knows his a-b-c when he was 18 months,” said his mother Jovie Ancheta.

With all this brain power, the boy said he wants to be a police officer to protect and serve America when he grows up.

“Because I want to help people, but sometimes police officers die,” he said.
