Nearly 8,000 perpetrators were named in the files and ABS-CBN News found one leader who was reported to have worked and abused children in the Philippines.This week an advocacy group and law firm representing sex abuse victims released a list of more than 7,000 scout leaders and volunteers that had allegedly abused more then 12,000 kids since 1944. &quot;There are 7,819 perpetrators of childhood sexual abuse in these files. That is 7,819. There are 12,254 victims of childhood sexual abuse in those files in the perversion files of scout leaders,&quot; said Atty. Jeff Anderson of Anderson and Associates.In digging through the files, ABS-CBN News and Balitang America so far found at least one leader that had been recorded to have worked and abused children in the Philippines.James Allen Baxley was assigned at Clark Air Base in Pampanga with the Boy Scouts in 1988 and 1989.The files show that Baxley had been charged and found guilty of sodomy of a child under 16 and indecent acts with a male under 16 years of age.In 1989, Baxley was ordered dismissed from the Far East Council of Boy Scouts of American based in San Francisco.The Boy Scouts of America has said on Wednesday that they deeply care about the victims and sincerely apologize to anyone who was harmed during their time in scouting. They claim they never knowingly allowed a perpetrator to work with the youth and they mandate all leaders and volunteers and staff members nationwide to report any abuse.Part of the statement of the BSA adds that youth protection training is now mandatory for all registered leaders. The BSA now requires that a youth is never alone with an adult leader during scouting activities and says that no youth is permitted to sleep in the tent of an adult other than his or her own parent or guardian. The BSA prohibits one-on-one texts and social media communications between adult and youth members.&quot;Survivors will now be given a voice and are given a voice to bring an action the same way we brought actions against the Boy Scouts of America, the Roman Catholic Church hierarchy, schools and organizations across this country,&quot; Anderson said.As for the advocates and law firms representing victims, they encourage other victims to now be brave and stand up and report the abuses they suffered so they too can seek justice.Read more on <a href="https://balitangamerica.tv">Balitang America</a>.
