'People stayed at home': Pinoy teacher in Vietnam says quarantine helped contain coronavirus

Vietnamese people, even us foreigners, hindi na rin kasi kami lumalabas eh,&quot; he added.Deles Escasinas said classes were suspended after the first case of COVID-19 was recorded in Vietnam. &quot;The moment COVID started we considered ourselves jobless na po and the schools stopped already,&quot; he said.To cope with the loss of income, teachers have turned to online jobs as alternative occupation in order to sustain their needs during the pandemic.&quot;Kami po, kaming nasa bahay po, what we are doing is naghahanap po kami ng mga online jobs, even mga Vietnamese people. Even &#x27;yong mga Vietnamese teachers po sa online sila nagti-teach,&quot; the professor said.&quot;Vietnamese people, sanay po kasi silang maghanap eh. Sanay silang sumolusyon sa problema,&quot; he added.According to the John Hopkins University &amp; Medicine tracker, Vietnam tallied 270 cases of COVID-19 where 222 have already recovered and zero fatalities.Globally, more than 3.18 million are infected with the disease where around 227,000 died and approximately 971,000 recovered.
