LONDON - Rowena Romulo, owner of Romulo Café London, the first international outpost of Manila-based Romulo Café restaurants, is named one of the 100 most influential Filipinas in the world by the Filipina Women’s Network.

Romulo opened the eponymous Romulo Café in London in March 2016 after quitting a successful 30-year career in the financial services industry to pursue her lifelong passion.

She was selected from a pool of nominees from around the world, with exemplary backgrounds. She is honored in the “Builder Award’ category.

The selection committee recognized Romulo’s "exceptional organizational impact at a large workplace environment," her "deep passion for a cause, through collaborative initiatives or alliances" and "high potential and skill with measurable results."

“I am extremely honored to have been selected for such a prestigious award and to be joining an esteemed group of accomplished Filipinas worldwide,” Romulo said.

She added: “Whatever I have achieved, I hope my daughter and the daughters of other hard working, driven Filipino mothers can appreciate the example we have set for them. The world is theirs for the taking. All they need to do is grasp it. Nothing is impossible. The impossible only takes time.”

In May, Romulo was featured on Lifestyle Network’s documentary "24x24," a show that chronicles the 24-hour life cycle of real women, capturing her daily challenges, her little victories, her personal style, and many more, presented in a 24-minute timeline.

The Gala Awards Ceremony will be held in Toronto, Canada this October.

Joining Romulo in the list of awardees from London is councilor Cynthia Barker, the first Filipina to be elected both as a town and borough councilor in the UK.
