If convicted, she would have faced Qisas or death penalty,” said Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan Alonto.According to news reports, 3 unidentified men broke into her employer&#x27;s house in 2013. The perpetrators allegedly tried to rape Policarpio, but she fought back. The same men also allegedly killed her Lebanese employer.But when Saudi police arrived at the scene, they only found Policarpio and the dead Lebanese, which made her the immediate suspect in the incident.“Hers was a story of strength, of character, faith in God, resilience and optimism. She remained strong physically and mentally during her ordeal and had entrusted her faith in God,&quot; Alonto said.&quot;Despite all, she exhibited confidence that good things will come her way and she is ready to meet challenges.&quot;Alonto and his team brought Policarpio to the airport for her departure Monday night.In a video clip posted by Alonto on his Facebook page, Policarpio thanked the Philippine embassy and the people who helped her gain her freedom.Alonto said the embassy never gave up on Policarpio because she was innocent. “We’re really just happy that she is in on her way home. She went through a lot and yet there is no bitterness in her. The resilience in the Filipino, I guess. Finally, sweet justice,” he said.
