Sunshine Dizon dreams of becoming a director, wishes to work with Maricel Soriano in directorial debut

Maricel Soriano and Sunshine Dizon are part of the afternoon soap opera <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/paraiso2023">Pira-Pirasong Paraiso</a>, wherein Sunshine impressively plays the role of Osang, while Maricel astonished us with her special participation as Amanda Barrameda. Since it’s her second project under ABS-CBN, the Diamond Star quizzed Sunshine on what made her decide to accept it.According to her, it’s actually her personal choice to take it since she is already at the point in her life wherein she can choose the projects that she wants to do.“No’ng dumating ‘yong PPP, sabi ko, ‘wow, napakaganda ng script na ‘to.’ Hindi ko makita na ibang artista ‘yong dapat na gumanap. Kumbaga, nakita ko ‘yong sarili ko na dapat ako ‘to. Sayang kung papalampasin ko. So, finally, sinabi ko nga sa manager ko, ‘go ako rito’,” she said.Sunshine then tackled her being a freelance talent at present, which gives her the freedom to work on any network or media company. After working in her home network for decades and turning 40 in 2023, she realized that the time had come for her to experience collaborating with new sets of artists and directors and working in a different environment. And she didn’t regret it as she shared how she enjoyed her Kapamilya teleserye debut, the 2021 primetime romance drama <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/MARRYME2021">Marry Me Marry You</a>, wherein she got to build a lot of friendships, especially with Cherry Pie Picache whom she apparently adores so much.“Hindi siya gano’n kabigat, hindi rin gano’n kalaki ‘yong role ko, pero super natuwa ako, na-happy ako kasi ‘yong mga nakasama ko doon, parang naging pamilya,” she explained.As she mentioned being able to form a bond with the young stars of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/paraiso2023">Pira-Pirasong Paraiso</a>, Sunshine enthusiastically talked about how it is working with them. First off is Loisa Andalio, who astounded her with how she can easily pick up everything that she would advise her to do when it comes to portraying her adopted daughter Baby.Next is Elisse, who she described as “kumakapit siya sa kaeksena niya” and someone who can give the exact energy needed in her every scene. She also reveals how she helps in motivating Elisse, especially during the dramatic scenes of her character Hilary.Then with Charlie, she commented, “Maning-mani e. Sanay na, parang beterana.” And, lastly, with Alexa, she noticed how she really takes time in reading and studying the script, as well as how she is never shy in asking questions to the directors. Thus, Maricel and Sunshine couldn’t help but compare the dynamics on the set during their time and at present, and conveyed how fortunate the current generation is that they’re able to ask questions or collaborate with the creatives of the projects they’re doing.Since they were already talking about the past, Maricel further veered the conversation to her guest’s beginnings in the industry. Sunshine disclosed that she started acting at the age of 3 when she got cast in the 80’s flick “Silang Mga Sisiw Sa Lansangan” starred by Judy Ann Santos. They also recalled their fondest memories about working together in several episodes of “The Maricel Drama Special,” which was aired on ABS-CBN from 1989 to 1997, then in the 2003 family drama film “Filipinas” starred by some of the brightest and biggest names in local showbiz.With regard to the most valuable lessons she has learned throughout her journey, Sunshine said that it would be there’s nothing wrong in being kind to the people around you, as she related how it makes her heart full whenever the crew of a previous project she did still remembers her. This made her ask herself, “Ano ba ang dapat na iniiwan natin sa tao?”When it comes to love, Sunshine reveals that even though she has a lot of regrets, there’s one thing that would never be remorseful about – being blessed with two beautiful kids. Thus, for now, she wishes nothing but peace of mind and of heart for herself. She believes that happiness will just arrive when she least expects it.At the end of their conversation, Sunshine disclosed the best advice she ever received about being in showbiz, which was from the late King of Philippine Movies Fernando Poe Jr., who told her not to aim to become a superstar but to be contented at the middle instead because longevity is there. She also confessed her dream to become a director someday and to work with the Diamond Star on her directorial debut, to which Maricel is very much game and excited.
