MANILA -- Thousands of Bicol-bound passengers are stranded on the main highway of Libmanan and San Fernando in Camarines Sur.

Their buses could not make it through the flooded Maharlika Highway, so they have to wait for several days until they can proceed to their destination.

"Ito nagugutom na saka wala nang ligo. ilang araw na hindi nagpapalit ng damit. Ilang araw maghihintay para makauwi sa Iriga," said Edwin Manansala, one of the stranded passengers.

(I'm so hungry and I haven't taken a bath. I have to wait for a few days to go home.)

"For safety purposes, may authority kasi nagdedecide; irerespeto natin yun. Intindihin na lang natin sitwasyon na nasa ganito tayo," said Manuel Abasola, another stranded passenger.

(For safety purposes, there are authorities deciding. We have to respect that. We have to understand the situation.)

Trips to Naga City and other southern areas in Bicol Region was halted due to the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

AGRI DAMAGE

More than half of ricefields in Barangay Potot were also damaged by the storm.

Agriculture officials of the village said some of the crops would have been ready for harvest.

"Yung inabot na palay na pananim lalo na yung mga aanihin, sayang po at kawawa naman mga may-ari kasi nagpursige sila na makapagtanim ng palay pero di inaasahan kasi yung panahon di kontrolado," said Joseph Cañas, Agriculture Officer of Brgy Potot.

(It's really a waste and we pity the owners because they strived hard to plant, but we really cannot control the weather.)

Power supply and telco signal is still out because of the storm.
