ISABELA — A part of Barangay Moldero in the town of Tumauini in Isabela remained isolated on Friday, more than a day after severe tropical storm Kristine barreled through northern Luzon.

ABS-CBN News was able to reach Sitio Pantalan by a small boat where adults and children alike waited for much needed aid.

Home to more than 500 individuals, Sitio Pantalan is Tumauini area's lowest elevation, making it the first to experience flood and the last to recover from it.

A local disaster official said the flood across the cornfield remains to be at least four feet high making it impossible for vehicles, including trucks to reach the area.

Jenny-vi Palogan, Tumaini’s disaster officer, said that prior to Kristine’s onslaught, they already advised residents to prepare everything they will need should they decide not to leave their area.

She said they expect minimal to no damage to infrastructure. But they admit the storm still has significant impact especially on agriculture.

“Mga pananim po ang tututukan natin ngayon. May mga standing crops pa na Naiwan so yun yung mangangailangan ng tulong,” she said.

Meanwhile, residents in Ilagan City are hard at work to recover from Kristine. As the murky floodwaters faded, they worked tirelessly to remove the mud it left behind.

No casualties from Kristine were reported in the province.

Residents affected by severe flooding continue to appeal for help in terms of both food and non-food items.

ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya visited the town of San Isidro and Ilagan City to distribute much needed aid to some 500 families.
