'Person of interest' in kidnapping of American sent surrender feeler – PNP

CAMP CRAME – One of the two persons of interest (POI) in the kidnapping of American Elliot Onil Eastman has sent a surrender feeler, a Philippine National Police (PNP) official said Monday.In a media briefing at Camp Crame, PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said the POI, who is yet to be considered either as suspect or witness, sent the surrender feeler to authorities on Sunday.“That is a good development on this case and hopefully in the coming days, if not today, ay magkaroon po ng development,” Fajardo told reporters.“We are pursuing good lead now because they already identified one particular person who could give more information that could lead to the possible location or at least whereabouts nitong si kidnap victim,” she added.Eastman, a 26-year-old native of Vermont who married a Filipina, was abducted on October 17 at their residential area in Barangay Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte.It has yet established if the kidnappers are associated with the kidnap-for-ransom group Abu Sayyaf, which Philippine authorities claim has been largely neutralized in Zamboanga region and nearby provinces of Sulu and Basilan.They have yet to ask for any demands.“As to the identity of these POIs pom ipagpaumanhin niyo muna, hindi ko muna ibigay kung ano po ‘yong relationship po niya dito sa kidnap victim o ‘yong iba pa pong mga tao within the community po,” Fajardo said.
