Jonathan Celloa, ABS-CBN News/File"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Motorists drive past toppled electric posts along Tayabas-Mauban Road in Quezon Province on Monday, a day after tropical storm Aghon made landfall on May 26, 2024.  <em>Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- The governor of Quezon Province on Sunday said they will not hesitate to implement forced evacuations at the slightest threat of severe tropical storm Nika. </p><p>Quezon Governor Helen Tan told Teleradyo Serbisyo said the forced evacuation will not only secure their constituents but also the responders being tasked in rescue operations. </p><p>&quot;&#x27;Yung experience kasi sa past typhoon, sabi ko sa kanila baka hindi na effective and preemptive evacuation… kailangan na ng forced evacuation kaaga kasi hindi nga sumusunod (ang mga tao) hanggat hindi nararamdaman ng ulan… kawawa rin naman ang ating responders,&quot; explained Tan.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/regions/2024/10/23/quezon-authorities-verifying-if-2-reported-casualties-are-due-to-kristine-145" id="isPasted">Quezon authorities verifying if 2 reported casualties are due to &#x27;Kristine&#x27; </a></div><p>&quot;Ako ang instructions ko sa kanila wag iiwan, make sure aalis ang mga tao.&quot; </p><p>The governor added they made sure that the evacuation centers will be able to provide the residents everything they need. </p><p>&quot;As much as possible, &#x27;yung mga evacuations centers natin ngayon may nilalagay tayo na may privacy, they can sleep, may toilet at water... (We understand concerned sila sa) properties… gusto nila secure, natatakot silang iwan ang gamit,&quot; explained Tan.</p><div><script data-wid="auto" type="text/javascript" src="https://content.viralize.tv/display/?zid=AAEyze-tm4MR6kEa&amp;cid=ABQFR_0NpGngWPIG&amp;activation=click&amp;vip_mode=playing&amp;vip_position=bottom-right"></script></div><p>The province was among areas badly hit by severe tropical storm Kristine that affected 11,500 individuals and flooded at least nine towns. </p><p>Quezon is situated on the southeastern portion of Luzon, with a large part of the province located at the eastern area of the island. </p><p>&quot;Kaninang umaga, 9:30 a.m. nagpatawag na ko ng council meeting for disaster reiteration lang sa ating mga members and sa mga municipal government na maging aggressive doon sa paghahanda,&quot; said Tan. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/11/10/signal-no-2-in-parts-of-northern-central-luzon-as-nika-maintains-strength-1207" id="isPasted">Signal No. 2 in parts of northern, Central Luzon as Nika intensifies</a> </div><p>&quot;Although hindi naman sinasabing maglalandfall (sa amin), pero &#x27;yung heavy rains (expected) especially sa Quezon na coastal mostly.&quot; </p><p>Tan added that disaster officials already made the rounds in coastal barangays to dissuade fishermen from sailing for now. </p><p>Disaster officials are also alert especially after Kristine. </p><p>&quot;Kanina nakita ko ang shift, aggressive silang nagiikot... may mga prepositioned relief goods rin tayo. Alam natin more typhoons ang expected hanggang December 31. &#x27;Yung mga island municipalities namin nakareplenish naman ng goods ang provincial government,&quot; she said.</p>
