MANILA (2nd UPDATE) — Some local government units (LGUs) have decided to suspend classes on Tuesday, November 12 due to typhoon Nika.

Classes at all levels in the following areas have been suspended:

Abra

Angeles City

Baguio City

Benguet

Camarines Sur (until lifted)

Casiguran, Aurora

Dagupan City (also on Nov. 13 for Eugenio Perez Day)

- Ilagan

- San Mateo

Mountain Province

- Bontoc

- Paracelis

Pangasinan

- Asingan

- Mangatarem

- Rosales

- San Carlos

- San Fabian

-Santo Tomas (public only)

San Jose, Tarlac

Classes from pre-school to high school are also suspended in the following areas:

General Nakar, Quezon

Mangaldan, Pangasinan

Pangasinan

- Basista

- Manaoag

Tarlac

- Bamban

- Camiling

- Concepcion

- La Paz

- Paniqui

- San Manuel

- Tarlac City

Face-to-face classes in all levels are likewise suspended in the following areas:

Mapandan, Pangasinan

Pampanga

- Mabalacat

- Masantol

As of 11 p.m., PAGASA said Nika was last located 80 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, packing maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour, with gusts of up to 180 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 remains hoisted over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Abra.

Heavy to intense rains may also persist over Ilocos Norte and Cagayan, while moderate to heavy rains may be experienced over Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Isabela, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Batanes until Tuesday.

PAGASA earlier said three tropical cyclones could barrel through the Philippine area of responsibility this week.
