MANILA (UPDATE) — Some local government units (LGUs) have decided to suspend classes on Friday, November 8, due to typhoon Marce.

Classes at all levels in the following areas have been suspended:

Abra (face-to-face classes)

Cagayan

Camarines Sur (suspension due to aftermath of #KristinePH remains in effect until lifted)

Dagupan City

Eastern Samar

-Salcedo (suspension due to 11th anniversary commemoration of super typhoon Yolanda)

Ilocos Norte

Ilocos Sur

La Union

Leyte

-Dagami (suspension due to 11th anniversary commemoration of super typhoon Yolanda)

-Tanauan (suspension due to 11th anniversary commemoration of super typhoon Yolanda)

Pangasinan

-San Fabian

-Mapandan (face-to-face classes)

-Rosales

Classes from pre-school to senior high school, public and private, are also suspended in the following areas:

Benguet

Baguio City

Pangasinan

-Mangaldan

-San Carlos

-San Jacinto (face-to-face classes)

-Balungao

Classes in all levels of public schools in Santa Rita, Samar are likewise suspended for the 11th anniversary commemoration of super typhoon Yolanda.

According to PAGASA, Marce made its second landfall in the vicinity of Sanchez-Mira in Cagayan at 9:00 p.m.

Signal No. 4 was hoisted over the northern portion of Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of Apayao, the northernmost portion of Abra, Ilocos Norte, and the northernmost portion of Ilocos Sur, where typhoon-force winds can be expected within 12 hours.

PAGASA also emphasized that regardless of the position of the center of the eye of the typhoon in the next several hours, potentially life threatening conditions due to typhoon-force winds, storm surge inundation, and torrential rainfall will be experienced in the Babuyan Islands and the northern portions of mainland Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao.
