A 14-year-old girl who was working on her modules for school was shot dead in Talisay City, Cebu on Friday morning. 

The incident happened at a house that the victim's family was renting in Barangay Cansojong.

The teenager's sister said masked men entered their home, ransacked it, and shot the victim multiple times.

The student was rushed to the nearest hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

“She sustained a gunshot wound on her head,” said PMaj. Epream Paguyod, chief of the Talisay City Police Station in his report.

Authorities are still investigating the motive in the crime and pursuing the perpetrators.

Investigators have identified several persons of interest and were holding a case conference around 2 p.m.

The Department of Education Central Visayas said it would also look into the incident.

“We push the police to catch the gunmen,” DepEd Region 7 Director Salustiano Jimenez said in a statement.
