<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1717037975482graduation-05302024.jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt="Contributed photos"/>Contributed photos </div>The Department of Education has debunked claims that the moving up ceremony of Marigondon National High School in Lapu-Lapu City started at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29.This stemmed from a now-deleted social media post that said the students had to wake up at 1 a.m.- 2 a.m. just to prepare for their Grade 10 graduation.DepEd Central Visayas Director Salustiano Jimenez said the social media post is not true, noting the processional started at 5 a.m. while the actual program started at 6 a.m.“The program was at 5 a.m. kay wala na gyoy laing schedule ang hoops dome (There was no other schedule for the hoops dome),” said Jimenez.The early start is also not a problem for the school since the sun is already out by 5 a.m., he said.The official said there were 1,500 completers that had to walk the stage to receive their diploma.There was also a private school graduation that afternoon so the school had to start and finish early.A DepEd Central Office order also said the ceremonies must be done within the month of May.At the moment, DepEd is also addressing the need for a bigger venue for large schools such as Marigondon National High School.<div> </div><div> </div>
