It said 221,435 individuals or 93,743 families were affected by the habagat, of which more than 20,000 people were staying in 49 evacuation centers, mostly in Regions 9 and 12.

The estimated worth of damage to infrastructure, agriculture, houses, and other assets remained at nearly P21 million.

Almost P1 million in assistance was provided to more than 1,000 families in SOCCSKSARGEN.

LPA FORECAST TO BECOME STORM

Habagat continues to affect the western sections of Southern Luzon and Mindanao while a low pressure area (LPA) brings scattered rains over the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.

The LPA is forecast to develop into a tropical cyclone as early as Wednesday and will be named Butchoy.

It may head towards Eastern Visayas or Bicol and cross the central part of the country by Thursday and Friday.
