The southwest monsoon is affecting almost the entire country even as a low pressure area continues to move further away from the Philippine landmass, weather bureau PAGASA said Monday.

PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said habagat-enhanced thunderstorms continue to bring heavy rains in parts of Metro Manila. “Habagat halos po buong bansa naapektuhan dito,” he said in a TeleRadyo Serbisyo interview.

Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, and Central Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

Meanwhile, Mindanao, Cavite, Batangas, and the rest of MIMAROPA and Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms also due to the habagat.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area inside the Philippine area of responsibility was estimated based on all available data at 1,155 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon as of 3 a.m.

The LPA is unlikely to strengthen further into a storm.
