Filming ‘twin shots’ requires a lot of patience and hard work – but Andrea is such a pro!

Taking the lead role in a teleserye is already a challenge, as you’re handed the responsibility to carry the storyline and the show itself. But it gets even more difficult when you’re portraying two characters at once. The recent star to take on this kind of double duty is Andrea Brillantes, who plays twin sisters Sky and Luna in the newest trending series “Senior High.”

Although Luna’s character had already exited by a death scene that sets the mystery trope in the narrative, there were many instances in the pilot week where Luna and Sky appeared in the same frame. If you wonder how Andrea pulled this off, check out her latest behind-the-scenes vlog, and you’ll see how much dedication it took.

The video opens with Andrea waking to the sound of her mobile phone’s alarm at 5:30 a.m. She said it would take at least two hours of travel to their location and she didn’t want to be late on their first day of taping. While on the way, she stole some sleep inside her cozy van.

After a quick makeup session and discussion with Director Onat Diaz, Andrea was all set for her first sequence, which was an indoor conversation with Angel Aquino, who plays her mom.

“It’s my first day and second scene, pinaiyak na agad ako ni Direk,” she shared later on. First days are always meant to be an adventure. Besides plunging straight into heavy dramatic scenes, they were also exposed to floodwater inside their tents. You will know Andrea is a real ‘chill girl’ as she didn’t make a fuss about the situation. And despite having a day packed with heavy scenes, she still had the energy to joke around with her glam team and send good vibes to everyone with her pleasant and radiant personality.

The real challenge is whenever she needs to take scenes as both Sky and Luna in one frame. She’s only given a maximum of 15 minutes for every makeup and wardrobe change, which happens repeatedly as they must shoot the sequence twice and ensure continuity. Andrea would first dress up as either of the two characters, then a double would act as a stand-in. In the next shot, Andrea and the double would switch places, then the editors would stitch the two strips into one film.

“’Yung audio is guide for my lines and emotions para talagang kabatuhan ko ‘yung sarili ko. Also, the double is used for the guide ng aking eye level,” she wrote in the description.

Since it’s an intricate process, the crew watches the shots on a large monitor inside the tent, which Andrea said to be a rare instance in teleserye production.

In the vlog, we see Andrea’s mom paying her a visit on set. It’d be impossible not to notice that her reel and real mother share the same fashion style. She also mentioned that her sister is her source of ‘hugot’ during crying scenes.

This new project is a test of Andrea’s grit and passion as an actress. She doesn’t get enough sleep, has zero rest days in two weeks, and doesn’t have long breaks on set. But at the end of the day, she’s grateful. She’s happy to give her best in her portrayal. She feels truly loved as well, thanks to the fans, especially the little kids, who wait outside her tent and their filming site just to greet her. She said their smiles and cheers humble her and give her motivation.
