Instead of moving up to force a tie for second place, the Aces now find themselves in a five-way logjam in the middle of the standings.&quot;Clearly (it was a blown chance),&quot; Compton said.&quot;We talked about how, if we can play right and win this game, then we&#x27;re tied for second. The middle four seeds, meanwhile, will figure in a pair of best-of-three series.Compton was not pleased with how Alaska performed against Blackwater, making special note of his team&#x27;s 26 turnovers and its subpar execution of the final play, wherein Calvin Abueva misfired on a three-pointer that could have tied the game.Yet the coach acknowledged that he can&#x27;t go back in time to change what happened.&quot;What we do with this is what I&#x27;m most interested in now,&quot; Compton said. &quot;What we do with this, with three games left in the regular season.&quot;Only defending All-Filipino champion San Miguel is assured of a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals, and eight other teams, including Alaska, remain in the hunt for the other spot.Yet Alaska, which concludes its elimination round schedule against Mahindra, Phoenix, and Rain or Shine, know it can just as easily find itself on the outside looking in come playoff time.&quot;This thing could play out,&quot; said Compton. &quot;We could not make the playoffs; (but) we could still technically end up as the second (seed).&quot;&quot;I think that&#x27;s the beauty of the three-conference format,&quot; he added. &quot;You play 11 games, and there&#x27;s one possession that you read and focus on. It&#x27;s a fantastic life lesson.
