Yet much like his other teammates, Yap&#x27;s defensive effort had little effect on Romeo, who propelled his team to a 117-99 win.Romeo had only three points in the first quarter, but waxed hot with 20 points in the second quarter, almost single-handedly overhauling a 10-point deficit. Romeo, for his part, has responded: he is averaging a league-best 28.7 points per game, while also tallying 6.2 assists per contest.&quot;Mahirap bantayan ang mga ganoong players, kasi &#x27;yung kumpyansa, sobrang taas,&quot; Yap stressed.When asked if Romeo can become the new face of the PBA – a position that Yap has held for years – the former Purefoods franchise player said: &quot;For me, sa nilalaro ni Terrence ngayon, I think future siya… Masaya naman ako kung si Terrence ang papalit na face of the PBA.&quot;However, Yap noted that there is something missing in Romeo&#x27;s resume that he should accomplish as well, aside from being their team&#x27;s franchise player and one of the most popular figures in the league.&quot;Sana, madala niya &#x27;yung team niya sa championship. &#x27;Yun naman ang pinaka-importante doon,&quot; he said.Romeo has already won an All-Star Game MVP and was the league&#x27;s Most Improved Player in 2015. He has led the PBA in scoring twice, in 2015 and 2016, but so far, the Batang Pier has not advanced past the semifinals of a conference with him leading the way.Yap, of course, is a seven-time PBA champion with Purefoods, and was an integral part of the franchise&#x27;s Grand Slam winning team in the league&#x27;s 2013-2014 season.Still, Yap has no doubts that Romeo has all the qualities needed to become the PBA&#x27;s premier play one day.&quot;Magaling talaga, mahirap bantayan,&quot; he said. &quot;Andoon &#x27;yung kumpiyansa, tapos andoon pa &#x27;yung coach na tiwala sa&#x27;yo at hinahayaan ka lang gawin &#x27;yung mga gusto mo.&quot;&quot;Sobrang hirap bantayan ng player na ganoon.
