Dennis Principe/file</figcaption></figure></div>Filipino boxer Pedro Taduran retained his IBF minimumweight championship after an abbreviated showdown with Daniel Valladares of Mexico in Guadalupe on Saturday evening (Sunday in Manila).The pair battled for four rounds before a cut over the Mexican fighter&#x27;s right eye forced an early end to the contest.Scores were 39-37 in favor of Valladares, and 38-38, 38-38. The majority decision draw meant that the 23-year-old Taduran kept his title.It is Taduran&#x27;s first successful defense of the title that he won last September 2019, when he beat Samuel Salva in Taguig. The young Filipino improved to 14-2-1 in his boxing career.An accidental clash of heads opened up the cut above Valladares&#x27; right eye, which Taduran would repeatedly target over the next three rounds.
