Arvin Lim, <a href="https://sports.abs-cbn.com/uaap/volleyball/photos">ABS-CBN Sports</a></figcaption></figure></div>MANILA, Philippines – Ateneo de Manila University racked up its third straight win in the UAAP Season 80 women&#x27;s volleyball tournament after outlasting Adamson University in five sets on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.In a game where neither squad truly had any momentum, Ateneo stood strong in the final frame to hack out a 25-18, 14-25, 25-18, 15-25, 15-10 triumph.The Lady Eagles leaned on their net defense to seal the deal, with Kat Tolentino and Maddie Madayag coming up with huge blocks in back-to-back rallies to finally put Adamson away.This marks the 11th straight time that Ateneo has beaten Adamson. The Lady Falcons last claimed a victory over the Lady Eagles in the second round of UAAP Season 75.&quot;Siguro pinakita talaga namin na lumaban talaga kami,&quot; said Ateneo team captain Maddie Madayag. &quot;Sobrang close &#x27;yung scores. The Lady Eagles, meanwhile, succumbed to errors in the second and fourth, giving the Lady Falcons the opportunity to equalize.&quot;Same errors like before,&quot; Madayag said when asked of their woes in the second and fourth frames. &quot;Hindi kami masyadong nagsasalita sa loob ng court. Hindi masyadong nagsasalita, nawawala sila sa focus.&quot;The fifth set followed the pattern of the match, with both teams exchanging points. A running kill by Joy Dacoron knotted the match for the last time at 6-all, but back-to-back attack errors by Adamson – a net touch by Dacoron, and a wide hit by Jema Galanza – gave the Lady Eagles a crucial two-point cushion, 8-6.Ateneo surged ahead by three, 11-8 and again at 12-9, thanks to kills by sophomore spiker Jules Samonte. A quick kill by Lea Perez made it 12-10, but it was the last time that the Lady Falcons got on the boards.Tolentino fired a crosscourt kill, then blocked Soyud at the net to bring Ateneo to match point. Madayag then completed the win by soundly rejecting Chiara Permentilla&#x27;s last-ditch attempt.This is the first time that Ateneo has won a five-setter in Season 80. They lost their previous marathon matches to Far Eastern University and National University. Since then, however, they have won three in a row.&quot;Sobrang nakakasaya na pataas nang pataas &#x27;yung level ng team,&quot; said Madayag.Ateneo now has a 3-2 win-loss record, while Adamson dropped to 2-3.
