<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2020/sports/04/15/sports.jpg"/></figure></div>Because of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic that has greatly affected many parts of the world, including the Philippines, many people with the capabilities and the platform have stepped up to help those in dire need during this time of crisis.An amazing example of this would be the Off-Court Action basketball jersey auction drive, spearheaded by PBA star Paul Lee and his talent manager, Stanley Santos.Through the jersey auction, Off-Court Action hopes to raise funds to help indigent families and frontliners.While the jersey drive features signed and game-worn jerseys from Philippine basketball’s biggest stars, Santos reveals that it was actually inspired by one of the country’s biggest volleyball stars in Rachel Anne Daquis, who also happens to be one of his talents.“Actually, this all started sa kagandahang-loob ni Rachel Daquis,” Santos shared with ABS-CBN Sports. “She’s the one who taught me talaga and inspired me to help other people kasi, if you know Rachel talaga, talagang Mother of Charity ng mga volleyball players, kumbaga yun yung tawag sa kanya.”“So parang she’s the one na nag-influence sa akin personally na tumulong, like for example what we did in Batangas noong Taal. Nag-tuloy-tuloy na,” Santos continued.Santos shared that one of the similar initiatives that Daquis has helped bring to life is a donation drive and jersey auction for the nephew of fellow volleyball star Jovelyn Gonzaga.Gonzaga’s nephew CV had to go treatment after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.“We did an auction before for Jovelyn Gonazaga, who’s also my talent. It was for her pamangkin, nag-auction sila,” Santos explained.Daquis’ kindness, Santos says, has rubbed off on him and now he hopes to inspire and influence his other clients to use their platform for good as well.“Kaya tinuturuan ko din yung mga alaga ko na, siyempre, you can use your name in good things diba, especially in this time of need. Kailangan kayo ng mga tao.
