MANILA, Philippines – After years of partnering with her former Ateneo de Manila University teammates in various beach volleyball tournaments, veteran campaigner Dzi Gervacio will have a new running mate for one of the biggest beach volleyball competitions ever held in Manila.Gervacio will be teaming up with University of Santo Tomas (UST) star Sisi Rondina, a three-time UAAP beach volleyball champion, in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Manila Open, to be held on May 3 to 6 at the Sands SM By the Bay.She and Rondina will be one of four women&#x27;s teams representing the Philippines in the landmark event.&quot;It is pretty exciting, playing with a younger athlete,&quot; said Gervacio, a member of the fabled &quot;Fab Five&quot; of the Ateneo Lady Eagles who helped elevate their women&#x27;s volleyball program to new heights.&quot;Siyempre, kahit papaano, mayroon akong natututunan araw-araw,&quot; she added.<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://sports.abs-cbn.com/volleyball/news/2018/04/26/bvr-nat-l-champs-lead-ph-bets-manila-open-40824">READ: BVR national champs lead PH bets in first FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Manila Open</a></li></ul>Gervacio and Rondina have been practicing together for two weeks now, and she reported that their chemistry has greatly improved. &quot;Sobrang nag-progress na &#x27;yung pag-jell namin as a tandem,&quot; said Gervacio.Playing with a talent such as Rondina is a new challenge for Gervacio, who usually teams up with former Ateneo players such as Bea Tan or Charo Soriano, or other founding members of the Beach Volleyball Republic (BVR).But she has nothing but praise for Rondina, who is perhaps the finest beach volleyball player in the Philippines today.&quot;We take responsibility with what we do,&quot; Gervacio said of their dynamic inside the sand court. &quot;We take initiative. Alam namin &#x27;yung kakayan namin sa isa&#x27;t isa.&quot;&quot;If someone makes an error, it&#x27;s okay, bawi. And we don&#x27;t blame naman each other. I think that&#x27;s what&#x27;s good naman about her then, na kahit star player siya, kahit siya na &#x27;yung best scorer ng UAAP, she doesn&#x27;t put that into consideration na, &#x27;Ano ba, ate?&#x27;&quot; she added.&quot;Siyempre there&#x27;s still respect naman between us, so that&#x27;s good.&quot;This is not the first time that Rondina will represent the Philippines in the international stage.
