Arvin Lim, <a href="https://sports.abs-cbn.com/pba/photos" target="_blank">ABS-CBN Sports</a></figcaption></figure></div>ANTIPOLO CITY, Philippines – (UPDATED) Raymond Almazan took charge in overtime, as the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters completed a huge comeback to shock San Miguel Beer, 123-119, in the 2018 PBA Commissioner&#x27;s Cup on Sunday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.Almazan scored eight of his 25 points in the extra period, singlehandedly outscoring the entire San Miguel team, while also adding 14 rebounds to his stat line. Import Reggie Johnson paced the Elasto Painters with 27 points, although 21 of those markers came in the first half.Three other players scored in double-digits for Rain or Shine as they registered their fourth win against one loss to seize the solo lead in the league standings, while also sending the defending champion Beermen to a 0-2 record.&quot;It&#x27;s a hard-earned win for us,&quot; said Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia, whose team led by 12 points early in the second quarter but struggled the rest of the first half.&quot;We had a good start and we were able to build a good lead, but the second group came in, and medyo nawala ang offense namin,&quot; he explained. &quot;But at the end of the day, I told the players at halftime that in order to beat San Miguel, you have to play almost a perfect game.&quot;<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://sports.abs-cbn.com/pba/news/2018/05/13/pba-aces-stop-tnt-third-straight-win-41550">READ: Aces stop TNT for third straight win</a></li></ul>The Beermen, with rookie Christian Standhardinger finding his rhythm, exploded for 40 points in the second period to take a 63-49 advantage at the half. However, they also lost import Troy Gillenwater with 2:29 left in the second quarter after the reinforcement was called for a technical foul for coming into contact with a referee.Despite their import&#x27;s absence, San Miguel went on to lead by as much as 17 points, 66-49, early in the third period.But behind Almazan and Chris Tiu, the Elasto Painters steadily whittled at the deficit and were down by just six points, 84-90, heading into the payoff period. Rain or Shine regained the lead, thanks to back-to-back triples by Gabe Norwood that made it 102-100 with 5:20 to go.The Beermen zoomed ahead once more, 110-109, on a clutch three-pointer by Arwind Santos. But Tiu was able to draw June Mar Fajardo&#x27;s sixth foul and convert both charities for a 111-110 lead, before Standhardinger committed a turnover that led to Tiu taking another trip at the line, where he split his freebies.San Miguel knotted the count at 112 after Alex Cabagnot waltzed into the lane for a lefty lay-up, and the Beermen had a chance to win in regulation when Norwood made a poor inbound pass that led to a backcourt violation. However, Chris Ross&#x27; jumper misfired as the buzzer sounded.Almazan, who was held scoreless in the fourth period, then proceeded to take over in overtime, as he repeatedly drew fouls on Santos to earn trips to the line. He iced the win with a reverse lay-up that made it 121-115 with 1:21 left to play, then canned two more charities in their next possession after fishing for Santos&#x27; sixth foul.&quot;This was a test of character for both teams,&quot; said Garcia, noting that both SMB and Rain or Shine were coming off defeats. &quot;San Miguel showed the quality of the team that they are, being the champions in the All-Filipino, they were still able to play hard and try to win the game.&quot;San Miguel shot better than Rain or Shine, 43.6% to 39.6%, but the Elasto Painters more than made up for it by knocking down 33 of a whopping 44 free throw attempts. The Beermen, for their part, made 11 of 16 tries at the line.Santos finished with 29 points, while Fajardo scored 26 points on top of 11 rebounds, before fouling out late in regulation.
