PSC/POC Pool.</figcaption></figure></div>(3rd UPDATE) Wushu artist Agatha Wong secured the Philippines&#x27; 13th gold medal of the 31st Southeast Asian Games after ruling the women&#x27;s taijijian event on Sunday morning at the Cầu Giấy Sporting Hall in Hanoi, Vietnam.A day after settling for the silver medal in the women&#x27;s taijiquan, Wong held on to win the gold in her other discipline after scoring 9.71.Performing third among nine competitors, Wong set a new standard but had to watch as the Vietnamese and Indonesian artists tried to knock her off the top spot. Her score proved to be good enough, with Vietnam&#x27;s Tran Thi Huyen coming in second place with a score of 9.70, and another Vietnamese, Tran Thi Trang taking third with 9.69.Indonesia&#x27;s Alisa Mellynar, who ended Wong&#x27;s reign as champion in taijiquan, finished in eighth place.&quot;I&#x27;m so thankful,&quot; said Wong, who came to the SEA Games with little expectations after training for just two months in a bubble set-up in Manila. &quot;We must remember na may pandemic. Kaya yung kahapon I was thankful naka-silver ako. Kahit bronze pa &#x27;yan I&#x27;d still be thankful.&quot;The 23-year-old Wong wowed the judges in the event, where competitors wield a double-edged sword traditionally used in Chinese martial arts.Wong&#x27;s gold is the first for the Philippine wushu team in the Hanoi SEA Games. She also won gold in the same discipline in the 2019 SEA Games in Manila.This is the fourth SEA Games gold medal for Wong.Wong&#x27;s teammate Arnel Mandal also delivered a gold medal winning performance in Hanoi.Mandal beat Indonesia’s Laksmana Pandu Pratama in the men’s sanda 56kg final for the Philippine wushu team’s second gold in the biennial event.Meanwhile, Thornton Sayan missed out on the podium in the men&#x27;s taolu nangun after scoring 9.67.Myanmar&#x27;s Thein Than Oo (9.71), Vietnam&#x27;s Quoc Khanh Pham (9.70) and Indonesia&#x27;s Harris Horatius (9.69) make up the podium in the event.Team Philippines, which won seven gold, two silver and two bronze medals in wushu in 2019, will go home with 2 gold, two silvers, the other one courtesy of Jones Inso in men&#x27;s taijiquan (taolu), and a bronze, also provided by Inso in taijijian.Meanwhile, Thornton Sayan missed out on the podium in the men&#x27;s taolu nangun after scoring 9.67.Myanmar&#x27;s Thein Than Oo (9.71), Vietnam&#x27;s Quoc Khanh Pham (9.70) and Indonesia&#x27;s Harris Horatius (9.69) make up the podium in the event.
