League also penalizes TNT's Jones for P70,000

MANILA -- (UPDATE) Phoenix forward Calvin Abueva was meted with a P70,000 fine and was indefinitely suspended by PBA commissioner Willie Marcial for his conduct during the past two games of the Fuel Masters.

According to the PBA, Abueva was ordered to pay P20,000 for his run-in with Ray Parks Jr.'s girlfriend near the end of the Phoenix-Blackwater game, and was also fined an additional P50,000 for a flagrant foul number 2 against Terrence Jones in the Fuel Masters' game against TNT KaTropa.

During the Phoenix-Blackwater game, Abueva got into a verbal tussle with Parks' girlfriend Maika Rivera and also made obscene gestures toward her and her companions.

Over the weekend, Abueva was slapped with a technical foul for a second motion against Anthony Semerad and was later ejected after a clothesline on import Jones.

The second foul was apparently in retaliation after Abueva was hit in the groin by Jones which the referee failed to call.

The feisty forward even danced on top of the officials' table and flashed a dirty finger at game officials. This further prompted Marcial to issue a ban against Abueva.

Others penalized, too

The league also meted a two-game suspension and a P40,000 fine against Phoenix coach Louie Alas, who was penalized for his physical contact with TNT's David Semerad and his negative comments against the league.

Phoenix's Rob Dozier and Jason Perkins were also fined P1,000 each for their technical foul for second motion and verbal altercation, respectively.

On the TNT side, Anthony and David Semerad were fined P20,000 each for their involvement in the fracas, while Jason Castro was also penalized with P1,000 for engaging in a verbal confrontation.

Jones didn’t go unpunished for the "below the belt" attack on Abueva. He was slapped with a hefty P50,000 fine for the hit and an additional P20,000 for physically confronting a game official.

TNT's deputy team manager Miguel Fernandez was also penalized with P10,000 for approaching the Technical Table.

The referee, Bing Oliva, who was blamed for the non-call on Jones, was suspended for 10 games.
