MANILA -- Floyd Mayweather Jr. was recently named by BoxRec as the "greatest boxer" in its top 10 greatest list, outranking Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao on points.

But for fight analyst Dennis Principe, Pacquiao should have outranked the undefeated American based on the quality of opposition they have faced in their respective careers.

"If BoxRec followed their longtime system based on points, they subtract ang mga loses... madaling mag-number 1 si Floyd kasi nga undefeated," explained Principe.

Mayweather holds a professional record of 50-0, while Pacquiao has a 62-7-2 win-loss-draw slate.

But Principe pointed out that Pacquiao has figured in numerous wars against bigger, stronger opponents.

"If we try to recall and analyze ang mga laban ni Manny against marquee fighters, most of them were touted as too big, too strong for Manny, 'yun tatalunin siya," said the analyst.

"But all of them from Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Oscar dela Hoya, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito lahat 'yung one-sided victories ang na-score ni Manny."

This is very much unlike Mayweather, who has been accused of cherry picking his foes throughout his career.

"Eventually he fought majority of those marquee fighters pero pababa na o nasa dulo na ang mga laro nila," Principe noted.

Pacquiao, he said, is actually comparable to another boxing great, Muhammad Ali, who took on some of the most fearsome fighters of his era, including Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier and George Foreman.

"Muhammad Ali, most of his fights were really tough and taxing, for the self-proclaimed greatest fighter," said Principe. "But the way Manny made it look it so easy, iyon ang magiging panlaban naman niya bilang greatest fighter of all time."
