Photo courtesy of Sports Vision</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE) The Creamline Cool Smashers are one win away from back-to-back crowns in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference.This, after the Cool Smashers bucked a first-set collapse to come away with a hard-earned 24-26, 25-16, 25-16, 25-22 triumph over the Angels on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.Creamline middle blocker Ale Blanco earned Player of the Game honors after putting up 18 points on 15 kills and 3 aces. Kuttika Kaewpin put up 21 points on 18 kills and 3 aces, while Alyssa Valdez contributed 16 points, 15 digs, and 11 receptions.&quot;Kahit ganoon &#x27;yung nangyari, we&#x27;re eyeing our goal talaga,&quot; said Valdez. &quot;So hanggang hindi pa tapos &#x27;yung game, we keep pushing each other. The Angels reached set point, 24-23, off a hit by Janisa Johnson before Creamline&#x27;s Kuttika Kaewpin tied the set. But Johnson came up with two straight big hits to snatch the opener.Creamline rebounded in Sets 2 and 3, pouncing on PetroGazz&#x27;s poor reception and shaky floor defense. The Angels could not get either Johnson or Wilma Salas going, while Creamline setter Jia Morado maximized Blanco&#x27;s presence in the middle for quick hits.Determined to force a decider, the Angels surged to an 8-3 lead in the fourth frame, only for Creamline to roar back with a 6-1 run -- capped by a quick hit by Blanco -- to tie the set at 9. It was a back-and-forth affair from there, but Creamline pulled away late, 23-20, after a clutch ace from Valdez.The Angels stayed alive, as a Johnson hit cut the deficit to one point, 22-23, before another attack from Blanco put the Cool Smashers at match point, 24-23. In a wild final rally, Cherry Nunag was called for an overreaching violation, giving Creamline the match-winning point.&quot;I think it&#x27;s a judgment call also of the referee, and I mean siyempre, &#x27;pag nakita naman natin sa replay, medyo for me … Siguro medyo biased ako sa tawag na ito, na nasa amin talaga &#x27;yung bola eh,&quot; said Valdez, referring to the final call that the PetroGazz squad contested.Johnson finished with 20 points, while Salas bucked a slow start to score 18 markers. Panaga added 10 points, including four aces.But the Angels were undone by their 31 unforced errors in the contest. The Cool Smashers will go for the clincher in Saturday&#x27;s Game 2, still at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
