MANILA, Philippines – Former Philippine Superliga (PSL) president Ramon &quot;Tats&quot; Suzara and former PSL treasurer Don Caringal on Thursday said they welcome the legal action taken against them by the league, as it gives them a chance to clear their names.The PSL filed a complaint of qualified theft to the National Bureau of Investigation against Suzara and Caringal, alleging that the two officials misused league funds.In a statement, Suzara and Caringal said that they &quot;welcome the filing of the case against us by some personalities in Philippine Superliga.&quot;&quot;We have actually been looking forward to the legal action that they have initiated as this would provide us the opportunity to clear our good names,&quot; they added.The two former PSL officials claimed that they have been subjected to &quot;malicious attacks&quot; from league personalities over the past months, personalities who have been &quot;spreading unfounded lies&quot; about Suzara and Caringal.They also claimed that these league officials opted to go to the public with their accusations, instead of confronting them during board meetings.It is worth noting that during a press conference on Thursday, PSL officials bared that Suzara and Caringal last attended a board meeting in January. PSL vice president Ian Laurel said they have repeatedly given both men notices to attend meetings, but neither responded.&quot;Sad to say, they did not cooperate, they did not attend, therefore we did not hear their side,&quot; Laurel said. &quot;They cannot tell us that we did not give them a chance to solve it internally.&quot;&quot;Now, we&#x27;re left without any choice but to seek legal help for these irregularities that we uncovered,&quot; he added.PSL officials also revealed that Suzara resigned from his post as president in May, while Caringal resigned in January. However, the two men insisted that they resigned not because of the allegations made against them.&quot;We resigned our positions because we wanted to protect the sport of volleyball, the players and the national team and insulate them from disagreements among us members of the board,&quot; they said.Caringal and Suzara have now decided to &quot;take legal action to protect our good names.&quot;&quot;We are confident that in the end, the truth will come out,&quot; they said. &quot;To the sport and players that we love, we will continue to support Philippine volleyball albeit in our personal and private capacity.&quot;Laurel has warned that more complaints are set to be filed against Suzara and Caringal.
