PBA Media Bureau</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATED) It&#x27;s official: Yeng Guiao will be the one to call the shots for the Philippine basketball team that will compete in the 2018 Asian Games this August.The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) confirmed Thursday afternoon that the fiery mentor has agreed to be the head coach after discussions with Rain or Shine team owners and coach Caloy Garcia.&quot;Coach Yeng has accepted, after a lot of discussion with the owners and Coach Caloy,&quot; SBP president Al Panlilio said in a press conference at the PBA office. &quot;He accepted to lead the Rain or Shine team, with Coach Caloy as part of his staff.&quot;Guiao coached Rain or Shine from 2011 to 2016, leading them to two championships before leaving for NLEX after his contract expired. Garcia, his longtime assistant, was then elevated to the head coaching position.<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://sports.abs-cbn.com/pba/news/2018/07/26/pba-some-things-give-smb-ginebra-finals-44941">READ: Some things have to give in SMB-Ginebra finals</a></li></ul>In the Asiad, however, they will revert to the roles that they held in 2016, with Guiao as head coach and Garcia as his chief assistant.&quot;Let&#x27;s admit it, Coach Caloy has no international experiences,&quot; said Rain or Shine governor Mert Mondragon.&quot;I think this will be a great experience for Coach Caloy,&quot; said Panlilio.<div>RUSHING THE LINE-UP</div>Guiao is now under pressure to finalize the line-up of players that will be submitted to the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC).Panlilio said they are already way behind the deadline of submission of the rosters – which was initially set for June 30.The core of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters will form the squad, along with three Gilas Pilipinas cadets – Ricci Rivero, Kobe Paras, and Abu Tratter. Some players from Guiao&#x27;s NLEX Road Warriors team may also make the cut.Also to be included is Filipino-American guard Jordan Clarkson, though he has yet to be formally released by the Cleveland Cavaliers, and his eligibility remains at the hands of the Olympic Council of Asia.&quot;We&#x27;re way past the deadline of the INASGOC, and we have to submit pa to OCA. Hinahabol namin &#x27;yun, we&#x27;re burning the midnight oil in SBP,&quot; said Panlilio.Panlilio said they gave Guiao &quot;as many names to work with.&quot; The multi-titled mentor can choose from the entire Rain or Shine team along with some players form his own NLEX Road Warriors squad.&quot;I spoke to Coach Yeng, he&#x27;s thinking of including Asi (Taulava) just to help out in guarding some big guys from the other teams. Asi naman has played in the Asian Games,&quot; he added.The SBP is currently pressing Guiao to come up with the final list of names, as they still have to submit the line-up to the Philippine Olympic Committee. The POC will then forward the list to the INASGOC.&quot;He&#x27;s finalizing as of the moment,&quot; said Panlilio. &quot;We&#x27;re rushing him to really com eup with a line-up already.&quot;&quot;Hopefully, at the end of the day, we can get the list of names,&quot; he added.Once the line-up is finalized, the next issue will be gathering the team for practice.
