Why Ginebra's Tim Cone no longer uses triangle offense

I kind of learn that as we go along, players kind of learn as they go along. So it’s a struggle sometimes of course offensively, but guys are buying into it,” said Cone in Spin.ph following Ginebra’s 85-72 rout of NLEX.“I have a vision and end vision for it but we’re not there yet. Hopefully, we can improve game by game as we kind of learn together on what we’re trying to do.&quot;Cone said he began employing adjustments at the start of the PBA Governors’ Cup and these seem to work wonders, amid the Gin Kings’ 2-1 start.However, he pointed out that it remains a work in progress.“It’s a struggle for us. Bringing a new offense in and trying new things with different guys, it’s still an adjustment for us. And we’re bad ones at this point,” said Cone.The triangle has been part of Cone’s coaching system and it helped him win 18 PBA crowns while coaching Alaska and Star.But he said he needs to make innovations in order to grow as a coach.&quot;I feel like I’m doing it for a long time and I don’t want to get stale with it,&quot; said Cone. &quot;I could grow it a little and not just be a copier but be an innovator and help innovate the game.&quot;But Cone admitted that he might revert to his old ways if things don’t work out for the Gin Kings.“I’ve done this a couple of times in the past, but not this long,” he said. “But I&#x27;ve never got more than a week, before I said, &#x27;Ah let&#x27;s go back to triangle.&#x27;&quot;I hope I go all the way this time.&quot;For more sports coverage, visit the <a href="http://sports.abs-cbn.com/" target="_blank">ABS-CBN Sports website</a>.
