Willie Miller replaces Herndon in ‘King of the Rock’

<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/news-special1/sports/8/3/willie-miller-080316.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">PBA veteran Willie Miller will be the country&#x27;s new representative tot he King of the Rock world finals. <em>Handout photo</em></div></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA -- Filipino-American Robbie Herndon has decided to step down as the Philippines’ first representative to the King of the Rock world finals in Serbia.</p><p>Replacing him is two-time PBA Most Valuable Player Willie Miller, who ended up first runner-up to Herndon during the King of the Rock national finals.</p><p>The King of the Rock is the world’s largest one-on-one street basketball tournament held every year. </p><p>In its debut season in the Philippines, it held qualifiers in Cebu, Caloocan, and Quezon City. At the national finals, the top 24 players battled in intense single-elimination rounds before Herndon and Miller emerged as the top two – with Herndon eventually taking home the crown.</p><p>But Herndon, a former NCAA Division II player for San Francisco State University, is determined to continue with basketball albeit in a different venue. </p><p>After training in the PBA D-League in 2015 with teams like Rain or Shine, Alaska, and Kia, the 22-year-old believes that his skills and training are primed for another try at this year’s PBA Draft.</p><p>For more sports coverage, visit the <a href="http://sports.abs-cbn.com/" target="_blank">ABS-CBN Sports website</a>.</p>
