Arvin Lim, <a href="http://sports.abs-cbn.com/pvl/photos" target="_blank">ABS-CBN Sports</a></figcaption></figure></div>MANILA, Philippines – Displaying poise under pressure, the Bali Pure Water Defenders came away with a shocking sweep of Creamline to advance to the Finals of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference.Behind a stout defense and the playmaking of Jasmine Nabor, the Water Defenders claimed a hard-fought 25-22, 27-25, 25-23 victory on Wednesday evening at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.Though they won in just three sets, the Water Defenders had to battle for every point, especially in the extended second set, and weather the exit of libero Alyssa Eroa in the third frame due to a knee injury.&quot;Hindi ko ine-expect na tatlo (three-set win),&quot; said Bali Pure coach Roger Gorayeb. &quot;Siyempre, ang expectation ko ay manalo kami. Regardless kung ilang set, manalo, you go to the Finals, &#x27;yun ang importante sa amin.&quot;Meanwhile, it was a sorry finish to the conference for the Cool Smashers, who swept the elimination round and won the first game of the best-of-three semifinals series, only to stumble in the finish line without star spiker Alyssa Valdez.Bali Pure thus set up a Finals showdown against rival Pocari Sweat. Jerrili Malabanan&#x27;s mishit then put the Cool Smashers at set point for the first time in the match, 25-24.But the Water Defenders were more composed down the stretch. Creamline veteran Ivy Remulla committed a service error, then Malabanan made up for her earlier miscue by blocking Jamela Suyat. A vicious crosscourt kill by Aiko Urdas completed the comeback for Bali Pure.In the third frame, the Water Defenders rallied from a three-point deficit, 14-11, and fended off Creamline&#x27;s furious rally down the stretch. A service error by Jia Morado put Bali Pure at match point, 24-21, and while the Cool Smashers saved two points, Risa Sato&#x27;s quick kill could not be denied as she wrapped up the match for Bali Pure.&quot;Si Risa, kahit wala masyadong pinuntos, &#x27;yung pinakahuling palo niya &#x27;yung pinaka-importante,&quot; said Gorayeb.Bali Pure dropped the semis opener, 19-25, 25-13, 26-28, 25-15, 7-15, but forced a rubber match with a 25-19, 19-25, 25-16, 18-25, 15-13 win in Game 2.Malabanan topscored for Bali Pure with 15 points, while Grethcel Soltones added 13 markers, and Urdas scored 12. Nabor was superb, tallying 44 excellent sets on top of three points – all on kill blocks.Meanwhile, Pau Soriano was the lone player in double-digits for Creamline, which played sans head coach Tai Bundit.
