Arvin Lim, <a href="http://sports.abs-cbn.com/pvl/photos">ABS-CBN Sports</a></figcaption></figure></div>MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATED) Despite failing to sustain their perfect form in the elimination round, the Creamline Cool Smashers still ended their campaign in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on a winning note.Behind a solid showing from Ceska Racraquin and a gutsy performance from veteran Ging Balse-Pabayo, the Cool Smashers shook off a lethargic start to take down Hair Fairy Air Force, 18-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-16, in Game 2 on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.Creamline swept their best-of-3 series for third place, and thus, for the second consecutive conference, the Cool Smashers are going home with the third-place trophy.It was a measure of consolation for Creamline, which swept the elimination round, 7-0, but sputtered in the semifinals against BaliPure without ace spiker Alyssa Valdez.&quot;I guess it&#x27;s not our time to be in the finals,&quot; said Creamline assistant coach Oliver Almadro. &quot;But we&#x27;re happy that we ended the season on a winning note. Third is better than nothing, and we&#x27;re happy with this.&quot;<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="http://sports.abs-cbn.com/pvl/news/2017/08/16/sacrifice-pays-hd-spikers-seize-second-straight-title-29800">READ: Sacrifice pays off as HD Spikers seize second straight title</a></li></ul>The Cool Smashers swept Air Force in Game 1 of the best-of-3 series for the bronze, but got off to a horrible start in Game 2 with the Lady Jet Spikers surging to an 8-1 lead behind the powerful spikes of Dell Palomata.Air Force took the first set, 25-18, but could not sustain their charge as they fell behind 16-9 in Set 2. However, the Lady Jet Spikers showed their fighting spirit as they fought back from the huge deficit and even reached set point first, 24-23, off a kill by Iari Yongco.Yongco&#x27;s attack capped a 5-0 blast that turned a comfortable 23-19 Creamline lead into a one-point advantage for the Lady Jet Spikers. The Cool Smashers forced deuce point, thanks to a Balse kill, and Air Force killed their own momentum with back-to-back attack errors.&quot;We had a slow start, but alam niyo naman si Coach Tai (Bundit). Just play happy, and ako sabi ko lang, pataasin lang ang momentum,&quot; said Almadro.&quot;Sa second set, the heart of the players and their willingness to win that set, nakuha nila. In the third and fourth, it&#x27;s a different scenario na,&quot; he added.The failed comeback seemed to take the wind out of Air Force, as they faded in the third and fourth frames, allowing the Cool Smashers to cruise to victory.Racraquin led Creamline with 18 points on 16 attacks, while Rizza Mandapat and Rose Vargas each scored 11 markers. Balse-Pabayo had 10 points, five of which came on blocks, and played tremendous defense on Palomata from the second set onward.Mary Ann Pantino led Air Force with 16 points, while Palomata scored 12. However, nine of Palomata&#x27;s points came in the first frame, and she was limited the rest of the way with Balse-Pabayo serving as her primary defender.Creamline had more attacks, 51-49, than Air Force, and more aces, 7-4.
