San Miguel locals will have to step up if Arizona Reid decides to sit it out against Alaska, according to Arwind Santos.

Reid has been playing hurt during the past games and might have to rest on Wednesday, leaving his teammates to face the Aces and their import LaDontae Henton.

“Sana [maglaro si Reid], kasi malaking bagay na wala siya,” said Santos in Karlo Sacamos’ report on Spin.ph.

Santos himself is recovering from a knee operation, but he has no choice but try to fill in the gap if Reid misses the game.

“Wala kaming choice,” he said. “Kailangan naming ibigay pa rin kung ano yung matutulong namin kasi alam namin na kulang-kulang kami. Ganun talaga.”

“Maliban sa gusto ko maglaro, gusto ko rin makatulong sa team, lalo na nakikita ko na may injury yung import namin. Kahit papaano, makatakip-butas lang.”

Since his return, the former Most Valuable Player (MVP) averaged 6.5 points, 6 rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

Santos believes he will be more useful in defense, especially against Henton.

“Alam ko naman na hindi lang isang puntos at rebound ang ibigigay ko, especially on defense, lalo na kung matatapat ako sa import nila,” he said.
