Arvin Lim, ABS-CBN Sports</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA -- Fil-Peruvian guard Val Chauca has set some lofty goals for himself in his one and only season with the Adamson Soaring Falcons.The speedy guard turned heads with his superb performance against University of Santo Tomas (UST) on Wednesday afternoon, when he powered the Falcons to a come-from-behind win. Adamson was down by 9 points, 71-62, with 3 minutes left when Chauca got going, scoring 7 points in the Falcons&#x27; 16-0 run to end the game. He put his team ahead for good, 72-71, with a pair of charities with a minute to go.&quot;It was really ugly on the offensive end. We didn’t really play too efficiently. A lot of careless turnovers, myself included,&quot; said Chauca after the win, which improved Adamson&#x27;s record to 3-2. &quot;But at the end of the day, you just fight. This came down to what’s inside like your heart. It was all heart. I’m just glad we came out with the win and I’m glad we did it as a team,&quot; he added.It was just the latest in a string of solid performances by Chauca, a transferee from Enderun College who is now averaging 16.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4 assists per game in UAAP Season 82.This will be his first and last year in the UAAP, having already played three years in UC Berkeley, and one season with Enderun in the NAASCU. The 5-foot-10 guard is determined to make his mark in his lone year in the league.&quot;The goal is pretty simple,&quot; he said. &quot;Go to the Finals, win the Finals.&quot;&quot;Personally, I wanna win the MVP. I wanna be very efficient,&quot; added Chauca, who is shooting 39% from beyond the arc. &quot;(I wanna) keep my turnovers down, shoot it efficiently.&quot;&quot;I just wanna keep winning.&quot;Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren commended Chauca for his poise down the stretch, noting that it was the reason he recruited the Fil-Peruvian guard for his team.&quot;We got a big lift from Val,&quot; he said. &quot;That&#x27;s why he&#x27;s here - he&#x27;s here to guide this young team. As we all know, we&#x27;re still composed of young guys.&quot;The Falcons now sit at joint third in the league standings, and will have a chance to claim their second straight win on Saturday when they take on De La Salle University. Chauca said he will approach the contest &quot;like any other game,&quot; and will encourage his younger teammates to take the same mindset.&quot;What I really try to preach to the young guys is this is gonna come and go really fast. In three months, this is going to be all over, you might never get the chance,&quot; he said. &quot;So, every time you step on the floor, you not only represent the school, God, but you represent your family, your loved ones, everyone that’s helped you along your journey.&quot;&quot;So yeah, La Salle is just another game.
