Capili raised the Philippine flag triumphantly at the most coveted finish line of the 8th Tor des Géants, that took place from September 10 to 18 in Italy.The course took place through a natural landscape, along the Alte Vie 1 and two high-mountain paths in the Valle d&#x27;Aosta region of Italy, with the start and finish line at the municipality of Courmayeur.Taking part in a single-stage, free-pace, semi-self-sufficiency race that must be completed with 150 hours, Capili crossed 34 municipalities, 25 mountain passes over 2,000 meters, 30 alpine lakes, and two natural parks.The long climbs and descents, racing terrain and weather of Tor des Geants did not hinder Capili, who finished the course in 146 hours and 46 minutes, good for 386th among 850 participants from around the world.&quot;I was overwhelmed with different emotions that I could not understand. I wanted to cry but the same time I was so happy reaching the finish line,&quot; said Capili.&quot;This is the only race that brought me to tears halfway through the race. I was so proud on how I defeated the pain without any help from pain relievers. This is just another step from chasing my dreams and I will return,&quot; he added.Capili said he did not dwell on his time, or even in trying to beat a particular person. Instead, he concentrated on simply finishing the race.&quot;Tor des Geants was my greatest endurance race so far. It&#x27;s a test on how my mind battles with the fatigue and the lack of sleep,&quot; he said.&quot;I didn&#x27;t have enough sleep. First three days were still fine for me, I can run properly with only few hours of sleep, but later on, it was very difficult and even dangerous running without enough sleep. The blisters were building up after half of the race because of uncontrollable placing of my foot into the ground and my feet got swollen,&quot; he recounted.Leaping from Asian to European trails with perseverance and conviction, it was a sweet success for Capili, whose spirit remained unfaltered, showing the world that Filipinos are resilient in nature.“Filipino runners can also do it. We are strong and capable of finishing the toughest endurance foot race in the world,” Capili said.“Tor Des Geants is challenging because of its distance and elevation gain. It&#x27;s a unique race that hardcore trail runners will always go back to,&quot; he shared. A native of Malaybalay, Bukidnon, Capili is currently based in Bangkok, Thailand working as a software product manager. Since 2015, the self-coached runner has already finished 31 ultra trail races in the different countries.
