Photo courtesy of the AVC</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA (UPDATED) - Team Rebisco finally won a set but couldn&#x27;t sustain its momentum in a four-set defeat to Saipa Tehran, Sunday at the Terminal 21 competition hall in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.In their final group round game in the 21st Asian Women&#x27;s Club Volleyball Championship, Saipa Tehran bounced back from a letdown in the second set to take a 26-24, 22-25, 25-13, 25-17 victory.Team Rebisco ended the group round with a 0-3 win-loss record, though they will still advance to the quarterfinals of the competition. There, they will take on Nakhon Ratchasima QminC, which topped Group A with a 2-0 slate.The other Philippine club in the competition, Team Choco Mucho, also lost all of its group round games and will play Thailand&#x27;s Supreme Chonburi in the quarterfinals.Rebisco had an opportunity to snatch the opening set, having taken a 24-23 lead off an attack error by Saipa. But the Iranian squad responded with three straight points, capped by a power tip by Kadkhoda Mahsa, to take the opener.The Filipinas made sure there wouldn&#x27;t be a similar collapse in the second set. They seized a 23-20 advantage off a kill by setter Kamille Cal, though she gave a point away with a service error to open the next rally. Rebisco reached set point from a hit by Mhicaela Belen, though she, too, committed a service error that kept the door open for Saipa, 24-22.It was veteran Dindin Santiago-Manabat who came up with the clutch hit that secured the triumph for Team Rebisco, putting the match on even terms again.The Filipinas had momentum in the third set and were still neck-and-neck with Saipa, 8-all, when the Rebisco coaching staff called for a challenge in the midst of a rally as they alleged that Saipa had committed a net violation.But the review showed that no net fault was committed, giving Saipa a lead that it would not relinquish. The Iranian club dominated the rest of the way, and wound up tallying a whopping 15 kills in the set against only four for Rebisco.Team Rebisco tried to regain its footing in the fourth, but had little success against Saipa&#x27;s stout defense both on the floor and at the net.Saipa finished the group stage with a 1-2 slate and will face Zhetysu VC of Kazakhstan in the semifinals.
