PBA Media Bureau</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA, Philippines – Just last May, Paul Zamar finally realized his dream of playing in the PBA.On Monday, the former University of the East guard got a bonus as he earned Cignal-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week for the period of October 1-7 in the on-going Governors&#x27; Cup.The son of San Miguel assistant coach Boycie Zamar stood tall in the past week after leading the Blackwater Elite to back-to-back triumphs over Meralco Bolts and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, boosting his team&#x27;s bid for a Top 4 spot in the playoffs.The 30-year-old Zamar averaged 12 points, five rebounds, and one assist in the Elite&#x27;s last two games, beating teammate Allein Maliksi, Alaska&#x27;s Simon Enciso, Chris Banchero and Vic Manuel, Ginebra&#x27;s Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio and Mark Caguioa, Magnolia&#x27;s Paul Lee, Mark Barroca and Ian Sangalang, and Columbian big men Sean Anthony and Mo Tautuaa for the weekly citation.Against Meralco, Zamar scored 10 of his 13 points in the final period, and also registered a crucial block off Anjo Caram&#x27;s lay-up attempt. He then capped his heroics by draining the game-winning triple as Blackwater escaped with a 94-91 victory last Friday.He sustained his shooting on Sunday night, scoring 11 points on top of eight rebounds and an assist as Blackwater took down the still-winless Elasto Painters, 99-93.Thanks in part to Zamar, Blackwater is off to its best start ever with a 6-1 record in the Governors&#x27; Cup.Selected in the fourth round of the 2012 PBA Rookie Draft by Ginebra but left unsigned, Zamar went on to play in the PBA D-League before signing in the Thailand Super Basketball League.His experience in the TSBL paved the way for a stint with Mono Vampire in the ASEAN Basketball League.
