PVL Media." src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2022/sports/10/18/pvl_creamline.jpg"/><figcaption>The Creamline Cool Smashers celebrate after scoring against the Petro Gazz Angels in their PVL Reinforced Conference match. <em>PVL Media.</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA <strong>(UPDATED) </strong>- The Creamline Cool Smashers earned a share of the lead in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference after a thrilling four-set triumph over the Petro Gazz Angels, Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.</p><p>Alyssa Valdez came up with clutch hits down the stretch to lift the Cool Smashers to a 25-19, 16-25, 25-18, 27-25 victory, their second straight of the conference. </p><p>After a relatively quiet debut, Creamline import Yeliz Basa showed her true worth and exploded for 28 points on 24 kills, two blocks, and two aces. Valdez finished with 14 points, 22 digs, and 15 receptions for a second consecutive triple-double.</p><p>Jema Galanza added 13 points, and the Cool Smashers weathered a 28-point effort from Petro Gazz import Lindsey Vander Weide to earn a share of the No. 1 spot along with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers. </p><p>&quot;&#x27;Yung breaks, napunta din sa amin noong fourth set,&quot; noted Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses. &quot;&#x27;Di naman bumitaw &#x27;yung mga players.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Grabe &#x27;yung effort ni [Yeliz] today. Monster points talaga. So we really have to help her in terms of the output din,&quot; said Valdez, for her part.</p><p>In a see-saw fourth set wherein neither team could take control, the Gazz Angels looked poised to force a decider after Vander Weide scored back-to-back hits for a 24-22 lead.</p><p>But Basa scored two straight kills of her own to extend the match, before Vander Weide gave Petro Gazz its last lead, 25-24. Unfortunately for the Gazz Angels, Vander Weide sent her next serve to the net, allowing Creamline to knot the count at 25.</p><p>Valdez took over from there, scoring off the Petro Gazz blockers to bring Creamline to match point, 26-25. She then proceeded to fire the match-winner by scoring off Vander Weide at the back row.</p><p>&quot;Buti na lang andoon &#x27;yung tiwala din ng buong team. Kahit naman ma-block, may coverage din,&quot; said Valdez, who scored 13 points off kills. &quot;It&#x27;s not naman asking for the ball, but I think Jia [De Guzman] on that moment, &#x27;yun ang best decision na ginawa niya, &#x27;yung naisip niya na pwedeng gawin.&quot;</p><p>MJ Phillips had 16 points on 11 kills, three aces and two blocks for the Gazz Angels, while Myla Pablo had seven points and Jonah Sabete added six.</p><p>They had the momentum after stunning Creamline in the second set, where they scored 12 of the final 14 points to equalize.
