MANILA, Philippines—Basketball never stops for Philip Manalang.

Just a few hours after he wrapped up his UAAP career with University of the East, Manalang will step on the court once again, this time as part of the Basilan team in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).

Manalang scored 5 points and had 7 assists in his final game for the Red Warriors, a 79-77 triumph over National University Wednesday.

"Maglalaro na ako mamaya sa Basilan," a beaming Manalang said after the game. "Diretso na ako doon."

The game will be held at Bulacan Capitol Gym at 6:30 p.m., as Basilan takes on Quezon City. Though he barely has any time to recuperate after playing nearly 29 minutes for the Red Warriors, Manalang won't complain

"Siyempre, thankful ako kay God, kasi bihira 'yung ganitong opportunity," said Manalang, who averaged 5.6 points and 2.9 assists in his final season.

"Naglalaro ako dito, wala na akong pressure. Alam ko na may fallback ako. Nagpapasalamat ako sa kumuha sa akin doon."

Manalang never made it to the Final 4 in his UAAP seniors career, but he said he has no regrets.

"Masaya ako kasi nagawa ko 'yung best ko dito sa UAAP career ko," said the point guard. "Kahit na ganito 'yung standing namin, alam ko sa sarili ko na every game, every single day sa practice, binibigay ko 'yung best ko."

"Kaya wala akong pinagsisisihan," he stressed.
