On Thursday, the Cargo Movers capped their immaculate run with a rousing straight-sets victory over the reigning PVL champions Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22, to clinch the gold medal in their return to volleyball action since the pandemic started. Kalei Mau led the offense of F2, dropping a team-high 16 points, all from attacks, and adding 19 receptions. Middle blockers Majoy Baron and Aby Maraño tallied with a combined 17 markers to finish the tournament with a 5-0 record. The Crossovers, who played without PVL MVP Jaja Santiago, finished the tournament with a 3-2 win-loss card for a bridesmaid finish.Chery Tiggo had a chance to extend the match to a fourth set as Mylene Paat and Dindin Santiago-Manabat joined forces to steal the lead in the third, 21-20. However, Kianna Dy scored off a drop shot followed by back-to-back errors from the Crossovers to put F2 near the title, 23-21. Mau punctuated the tournament with a couple of attacks. Dy, who registered six points, was named as the MVP of the league, aside from taking the Best Opposite Spiker award. Ces Molina of Petro Gazz Angels and Manabat were awarded the Best Outside Spikers trophies, while Iris Tolenada of F2 took the Best Setter plum.Maraño and Maika Ortiz were the Best Middle Blockers of the tournament, while Dawn Macandili was the Best Libero. Meanwhile, Petro Gazz booked the bronze chip after beating Tuguegarao Perlas Spikers in four sets, 25-11, 26-24, 19-25, 25-20. California Precision Sports and Baguio Lady Highlanders occupied the fifth and sixth spots in the league.
