Gretchen Ho, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA -- The Philippine women&#x27;s beach volleyball team earned a bronze medal in the 30th Southeast Asian Games, Friday, ending the host country&#x27;s 14-year medal drought in the sport.Victories over Singapore, combined with Indonesia&#x27;s triumph over Vietnam, propelled the Filipinas to the beach volleyball podium for the first time since 2005.Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons scored a 21-17, 21-13 triumph over Singapore&#x27;s Serene Ng and Shan Ee Lau in the first game, and the pair of Dzi Gervacio and Dij Rodriguez followed it up with a 21-18, 21-16 triumph over Eliza Chong and Gladys Lee.Their triumphs gave the Philippines a total of 8 points in the competition, but they still needed Indonesia to come through in their own match-up against Vietnam to secure the bronze.With the Filipinas cheering them on, the Indonesian pair of Dhita Juliana and Putu Utami swept Vietnam&#x27;s Nguyen Le Thi Tuong Vy and Vu Ngoc Lan Nguyen, 23-21, 21-17.The last time the Filipinas planed in SEA Games beach volleyball was in 2005, when the pair of Heidi Ilustre and Diane Pascua also won the bronze in the competition held in Bacolod.Indonesia is assured of silver, with Thailand winning the gold.
