MANILA (UPDATED) – Choco Mucho has set up a Finals showdown against their sister team in the 2023 PVL Second All-Filipino Conference.

This, as the Flying Titans overcame Cignal HD, 25-20, 23-25, 26-24, 25-23, on Tuesday in their do-or-die semifinal affair at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

They will battle the perfect 13-0 Creamline, also owned by Republic Biscuit Corporation, for the All-Filipino crown.

"Lumabas lang talaga 'yung kagustuhan namin today na manalo, at makuha 'yung Game 3. Kita naman na pinagtrabahuhan ng mga bata na makuha ang panalo anytime na may game kami," coach Dante Alinsunurin said in the postgame interview.

MVP frontrunner Sisi Rondina led the violet jerseys' balanced offense, firing 21 points, while Kat Tolentino had 17 markers. Cherry Nunag and Maddie Madayag also contributed 12 each.

Rondina was quick to give Alinsunurin and her teammates the credit after the victory.

"Nagpapasalamat kami sa taong 'to, si coach Dante (Alinsunurin). Nagbago talaga 'yung programa ng Choco Mucho. And siyempre sa personal mindset ng mga teammates ko, kasi hindi lang ako 'yung gustong mangyari 'to eh," Rondina said.

But it was decorated setter Deanna Wong who orchestrated the scoring, being credited with 24 excellent sets.

Vanie Gandler and Ces Molina, meanwhile, paced Cignal with 20 and 19 points, respectively.

The opening frame was owned by the Flying Titans, reaching set point as early as 24-16 after Jacqueline Acuña's service error, but the HD Spikers put up a fight and came as close as 24-20.

But Set 1 was finally awarded to Choco Mucho after an unfortunate Gel Cayuna net touch violation.

Cignal built a 22-18 cushion in Set 2, but Rondina and Isa Molde combined forces, each with a hit, to close in at 22-20.

However, Choco Mucho could not answer Jovelyn Gonzaga's attack to make it a 3-point game.

The "ube girls" inched closer again, this time after Gonzaga committed a service error while Bea De Leon showed her how to do it with an ace.

Molina unleashed a sharp spike to reach set point, but Gandler gave one point to Choco Mucho after her service error.

Rondina signaled Wong to set one for her, but the high-flyer's attempt went wide to give the second frame to the HD Spikers.

Set 3 was a tightly contested affair, with both teams entering a 24-deadlock. It was Nunag who broke the tie with a quick attack, while Molina was met on the net by Tolentino which gave Choco Mucho a 2-1 edge.

Cignal was in striking distance in the final frame, where they even closed in at 24-23 after a Gandler hit.

But Gandler was also responsible for yielding the match to the Flying Titans after a botched attack. Cignal hoisted a block touch challenge but to no avail.
